| The Nevada State Women's Golf Association (NSWGA) is made up of regional golf associations in the state of Nevada. The purpose of the state association is to promote golf, provide state amateur tournaments and to coordinate the work of the USGA. -----------------------------2012 TOURNAMENT RESULTS-------------------------------------- The Silver Cup event was held October 29, 30 and 31st in Las Vegas at Dragon Ridge Country Club. We had three beautiful days of golf. The first day of alternate shot ended with a 5 to 5 tie. The second day was a little better for the South with the score being 11 to 9. The third day began with the South needing 9 1/2 points to secure the trophy. Remember the North held the trophy and they needed 20 points total or 11 points in singles to keep the trophy. The higher handicap players went off first and the Southern players won 10 of the first 12 matches to secure the Southern win. The final score was 24.5 to 15.5 points. The scoreboards are tough to read without magnifying them. The players at the state amateur were surprised and pleased when Patty Sheehan rode around the course and watched the ladies play. She also came back the following day and presented the trophies to the winners of the event. A very special picture was taken showing the past state amateur champions playing in this years event. From left to right Karen Hoppe, Brenda Knott (3-time champion), Lori Elliott (3-time champion), Lisa Stanley (3-time champion), Laurie Johnson and Patty Sheehan. Patty Sheehan is the only four-time Nevada State Amateur Champion.
